Gathering of Tribal Leaders from Federally registered Tribes and Native American Church Spiritual Elders.

Spiritual Elders of both federally registered and recognized tribes and the Independent Native American Church Tribal Organizations gathered together today for a conference and meeting. The meeting which included over 30 Native American spiritual leaders via Video conference technology was the first of it’s kind. The meeting was to share fellowship and to discuss several important issues facing the Native American and US Indigenous peoples.
Spiritual Elders from Federally Registered Tribes: Paiute Nation, Chippewa- Rocky Boy Reservation, Cree- Rocky Boy Reservation, Northern Cheyenne, Lumbee, Shoshone, Southern Ute, Navajo, Hopi…
Topics Discussed:
- The history of Native American Church Tribal Organizations and parentage with the NAC. NAC opened the door!
- Solidarity and working together of the on-res and off-reservation tribal organizations for the betterment of all native people.
- Establishing with sworn testimony that recognized tribal spiritual elders both support and participate in Native American Churches mission to establish and maintain the constitutional and federally mandated rights to practice Native American and Indigenous religion without interference from any governmental authority.
- That government at all levels be compelled to follow and abide by the very laws they purport to represent.
- Establishing an association of traditional medicine persons to be a direct representative and voice for Native American Religious freedom in the US.
- Importance of recognizing all traditional indigenous, native religious and medicinal traditions both ceremonial, sacramental and expressed in any form as equally protected… No preference of spiritual tradition based on blood quotient or tribal affiliation.
- Presenting a united front and working with legal team to counter efforts to demean and or to disparage the legitimacy of all Native American Churches and religious Tribal Organizations and to redress slander via the courts systems whether by private individuals or governmental agencies.

Further meeting will be scheduled for 2016/ 2017.

i too am most interested in hearing what was discussed.
as i have only been a member since 9/15/15 (my birthday present to myself)
I AM MOST INTERESTED in LEARNING ALL i can of this Spiritual Way of living.
As i have ALWAYS lived by the CODES i have read-on my own, I was thrilled to learn of this ORG.
Mother Nature has long been my Goddess and kindness has always been my “religion”.
So please allow me to ask IF i too can hear or read any of this information
as i am SO very INTERESTED IN LEARNING ALL I CAN!

i apologize but also would like to learn if there is a sort of Mentoring Program from our ELDERS?
AS AGAIN-I AM MOST ANXIOUS TO NOT ONLY BECOME TOTALLY COMMITTED to practicing but LEARNING ALL THERE IS TO LEARN.
Because of the similarity in my own previous BELIEFS and PRACTICES which are all the same CODES this amazing “RELIGION” or way of CONDUCT being my own also. Thank you most sincerely~

The proposed rule would authorize the NPS to enter into agreements with federally recognized Indian tribes to allow for the gathering and removal of plants or plant parts for traditional purposes. The proposed rule is intended to continue Indian tribal cultural traditions that are rooted in the history of specific parks.
